War, 1975-1990
The devastating events following the outbreak of the Lebanese civil war in 1975 to 1990 resounded in the compositions of some of the working artists at the time, while other artists chose to maintain a generic or experimental discourse.
This era lacked the support of the artworld’s ecosystem that had previously existed, with art galleries permanently shutting down, patrons dispersed and exiled, and museums barely managing events and opening hours.
